Release Date 01/23/04
Students at Calvary Christian School celebrated their “Patriot Pride” with
Spirit Week, a weeklong event that culminated on Friday evening, January 16,
with the school’s Homecoming game and the crowning of the 2004 Homecoming
Queen.
Daily
spirit themes allowed students to dress as tacky tourists, nerds, and even
farm animals. A Morning Chapel service on Friday further fueled the
excitement, while giving students the chance to reflect on topics of eternal
significance. A Friday afternoon pep rally provided an opportunity to cheer
the Patriot teams toward victory.
Young
ladies were elected by fellow students to serve as representatives on the
school’s 2004 Homecoming Court. Selections are made based on each lady’s
Christian character and testimony, participation in church and school,
academic achievement, and lastly, grace and physical attractiveness.
Lindsey McDaniel and Caroline Black were chosen as the 7th Grade
and 8th Grade Princesses. Senior High court representatives,
vying for the title of 2004 Homecoming Queen, were Brittany Brown, Danielle
Crowe, Natalie Grooms, Christen Hair, Ashley Martin, and Margaret Sansbury.
After the court was presented on Friday evening, Brittany Brown was named
second runner up, Ashley Martin was named first runner up, and Danielle
Crowe was crowned as Calvary’s 2004 Homecoming Queen.

Release Date 10-15-03
Calvary Christian School students in grades 7-12 completed a week of
spiritual emphasis designed to bring focus to what is truly important in an
atmosphere of fun and excitement.
Many
of the school’s high school students spent the week at The Wilds, a
Christian campground near Brevard, NC. They heard messages on several
topics: knowing where you will spend eternity, spending daily time alone
with God, setting dating standards in advance, and writing down what is
important in a future life mate. These messages were the key purpose of the
week and brought biblical challenges designed for Christian youth. Students
also enjoyed hiking, swimming, swinging on a giant, six-story swing, and
water sliding. An obstacle course called “The Summit” provided the
opportunity for students to work together to achieve a common goal.
Junior and senior high students that remained on campus also heard special
messages each day designed specifically to challenge Christian teens in
their daily lives. Between messages, students enjoyed games that developed
class and school spirit. Mini-tournaments in volleyball, softball, and
other sports highlighted the importance of teamwork.
Overall, the week was a time of spiritual revival and coming together for
the youth.
