Release Date 02/19/08
Students at Calvary Christian School celebrated their “Patriot Pride” with
Spirit Week, a weeklong event that culminated on Friday evening, February 8,
with the school’s Homecoming game and the crowning of the 2008 Homecoming
Queen.
Daily
spirit themes allowed students to dress as movie characters, pirates, and
even in "decade" themed apparel. A morning Chapel service on Friday further fueled the
excitement, while giving students the chance to reflect on topics of eternal
significance. A Friday afternoon pep rally provided an opportunity to cheer
the Patriot teams toward victory.
Young
ladies were elected by fellow students to serve as representatives on the
school’s 2008 Homecoming Court. Selections are made based on each lady’s
Christian character and testimony, participation in church and school,
academic achievement, and lastly, grace and physical attractiveness.
Scarlett Henson and Ali Linke were chosen as the 7th Grade
and 8th Grade Princesses. Senior High Princesses,
vying for the title of 2008 Homecoming Queen, were Elizabeth Connor,
Nicolette Cromer, Cara Dempsey, Sarah Gehman, Lauren Gross, Laura Hoag, and
Sara Smith.
After the court was presented on Friday evening, Sarah Gehman was named
second runner up, Laura Hoag was named first runner up, and Sara Smith was crowned as Calvary’s 2008 Homecoming Queen.
