CAMPUS LIFE -- 2004-2005 SCHOOL YEAR

Here's some of the fun we had during the '04-'05 school year!  Enjoy your visit!!

Spirit Week / Homecoming

Calvary's high school students showed their school spirit during the week of January 24-28.  It was a fun-filled week of "spirit days" which found the students dressed in everything from camouflage to overalls!  Friday was "school colors" day and students geared up for the evening's festivities at an afternoon pep rally!

Congratulations to ALL THREE BASKETBALL TEAMS -- they each won their game against Sumter Christian!!  Way to go!!

Congratulations to each of the young ladies that represented CCS on the 2005 Homecoming Court:  7th Grade Princess, Dixie Hemingway; 8th Grade Princess, Lindsey McDaniel; 9th Grade Representatives, Caroline Black and Sara Smith; 10th Grade Representative, Asheley Gregory; and 12th Grade Representatives, Natalie Grooms, Ashley Martin, and Rachel Seibert.  These ladies were presented after the game and Ashley Martin was crowned our 2005 Homecoming Queen!!  Natalie Grooms was the 1st Runner-up and Caroline Black was the 2nd Runner-up.  We are proud to have each of you ladies representing Calvary Christian School!!

Pictures of the week ... coming soon!!

Leadership / Spiritual Emphasis Conference

Our "in-house" leadership and spiritual emphasis conference will be held November 3-5.  Students in grades 7-12 are already gearing up for a week of fun!  The teams are:

The Navy Seals:  7th and 12th Graders led by Mr. Bennett, Mrs. Martin and Mr. Martin

The Marines:  8th and 11th Graders led by Miss Martin, Miss Ashurst and Mr. Gregory

The Army Green Berets (Special Forces):  9th and 10th Graders led by Mrs. Haddock, Mr. Grooms and Mr. Browder

Teams will compete for the opportunity to "cream" the losers, plus for another special prize which will be announced on Monday, November 1.  Teams will face off in several events, including blanket volleyball, golf cart races, and obstacle courses!  Additional points will be awarded to teams for perfect attendance, participation in a church's Wednesday night prayer service, team participation and cooperation, and for coin contributions to our "Serving Our Soldiers" fund.  Points can also be deducted for failure to follow instructions, lack of participation, and other infractions.

We are pleased to have Mr. Bryan Samms and Mr. Aaron Harshaw, both from the Southland Camp and Conference Center in Ringgold, LA, as our guest speakers for the conference.  They will lead several sessions throughout the week for our students in grades 7-12 and will hold at least one special chapel service for our elementary students.

Special meals will also be available during the conference for students in grades 7-12.  On Wednesday, elementary students in grades 1-6 will also be treated to a special lunch.  The menu is as follows:

Wednesday:  A FREE Lunch will be served to students in grades 1-12.  Lunch will include spaghetti, choice of garlic or plain rolls (from Ryan's!), cookies and tea.  (Teachers and high school students will also be served a salad.)

Thursday:  Japanese Chicken and Rice Bowls will be available to students in grades 7-12 for $4.00.

Friday:  A FREE Lunch will be served to students in grades 7-12.  Lunch will include hamburgers and hotdogs with all the trimmings and french fries.

We are excited about this conference and ask that you be in prayer for our students, faculty and staff, and our guest speakers as we embark on this fun and exciting week!
