Spirit Week / Homecoming
Calvary's high
school students showed their school spirit during the week of January 24-28.
It was a fun-filled week of "spirit days" which found the students dressed
in everything from camouflage to overalls! Friday was "school colors"
day and students geared up for the evening's festivities at an afternoon pep
rally!
Congratulations to ALL THREE BASKETBALL TEAMS -- they each won their game
against Sumter Christian!! Way to go!!
Congratulations to each of the young ladies that represented CCS on the 2005
Homecoming Court: 7th Grade Princess, Dixie Hemingway; 8th Grade
Princess, Lindsey McDaniel; 9th Grade Representatives, Caroline Black and
Sara Smith; 10th Grade Representative, Asheley Gregory; and 12th Grade
Representatives, Natalie Grooms, Ashley Martin, and Rachel Seibert.
These ladies were presented after the game and Ashley Martin was crowned our
2005 Homecoming Queen!! Natalie Grooms was the 1st Runner-up and
Caroline Black was the 2nd Runner-up. We are proud to have each of
you ladies representing Calvary Christian School!!

Leadership / Spiritual Emphasis Conference
Our "in-house"
leadership and spiritual emphasis conference will be held November
3-5. Students in grades 7-12 are already gearing up for a week of
fun! The teams are:
The
Navy Seals: 7th and 12th Graders led by
Mr. Bennett, Mrs. Martin and Mr. Martin
The
Marines: 8th and 11th Graders led by
Miss Martin, Miss Ashurst and Mr. Gregory
The
Army Green Berets (Special Forces): 9th
and 10th Graders led by Mrs. Haddock, Mr. Grooms and Mr. Browder
Teams will
compete for the opportunity to "cream" the losers, plus for another special
prize which will be announced on Monday, November 1. Teams will face off in
several events, including blanket volleyball, golf cart races, and obstacle
courses! Additional points will be awarded to teams for perfect attendance,
participation in a church's Wednesday night prayer service, team
participation and cooperation, and for coin contributions to our "Serving
Our Soldiers" fund. Points can also be deducted for failure to follow
instructions, lack of participation, and other infractions.
We are pleased
to have Mr. Bryan Samms and Mr. Aaron Harshaw, both from the Southland Camp
and Conference Center in Ringgold, LA, as our guest speakers for the
conference. They will lead several sessions throughout the week for our
students in grades 7-12 and will hold at least one special chapel service
for our elementary students.
Special meals
will also be available during the conference for students in grades 7-12.
On Wednesday, elementary students in grades 1-6 will also be treated to a
special lunch. The menu is as follows:
Wednesday: A FREE Lunch will be served
to students in grades 1-12. Lunch will include spaghetti, choice of garlic
or plain rolls (from Ryan's!), cookies and tea. (Teachers and high school
students will also be served a salad.)
Thursday: Japanese Chicken and Rice
Bowls will be available to students in grades 7-12 for $4.00.
Friday: A FREE Lunch will be served to
students in grades 7-12. Lunch will include hamburgers and hotdogs with all
the trimmings and french fries.
