Dear Parents of Girls in Grades 2-5:

The CCS Cheerleaders are doing something new this year:  they are holding a “Mini” Cheerleading Camp and are offering participants -- “Junior Cheerleaders” -- an opportunity to cheer with them at our last home game.  We’d love for you to consider this opportunity for your daughter!  Not only will this introduce her to the sport of cheerleading, it will allow her to develop meaningful relationships with some of the older girls at Calvary, each of whom will serve as a wonderful example of a Christian teen for your daughter.  The attached flyer gives the basics; this letter is to fill you in on the specifics.

Camp participants will practice with the CCS Cheerleaders on Thursday, February 5th and on Friday, February 6th for approximately one hour each day.  Because the elementary students are dismissed earlier than the high school students, we are asking that the girls to go to the lunchroom immediately after school both days.  Mrs. Cromer will be waiting for them and will allow them to begin their homework.  At 3:30, Mrs. Cromer will walk the girls over to join the CCS Cheerleaders.

On Thursday, camp will end at 4:30 p.m.  You may pick up your daughter by the gate that leads to the classroom building.  (One of the adults will wait with them.)  On Friday, the girls will practice until the beginning of the Varsity Girls Basketball Game (about 5:00 p.m.)  At that time, they will go over to the gymnasium and sit with the cheerleaders during the game.  At half-time of both varsity games, your daughter will go out on the floor with the CCS Cheerleaders and perform a cheer that she has learned during camp.  She will be given a “CCS JUNIOR CHEERLEADER” T~SHIRT and POM POMS.  We are asking that she wear her t~shirt and her uniform skirt to cheer.  (She may wear a long sleeved white shirt under the t~shirt if it is cold.)

The cost of the camp is $20.00.  This covers the cost of the t~shirt, the pom poms, and admission to the game for your daughter.  We will also have a snack for the girls both days.

We would like for you to plan to be at the game to sit near your daughter and, of course, to see her cheer!  If you are not able to attend, please let us know.  Because Friday night is Parents Night, there will also be a spaghetti dinner from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $5.00 at the door (or $3.00 for a child-sized portion).  The Cheerleaders usually rotate their supper times and you may feel free to take your daughter at any time during the games (except half-time, please!) to get a bite to eat.  The boys game usually ends by 8:00 or 8:30 p.m.

To register your daughter, please complete the form below and return it, along with your check payable to Susan Cannone, to your child’s teacher no later than this Wednesday, February 4th.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call me.

Thanks and God Bless,

Mrs. Cannone
