Update 7/28/06
Hi, Mr. Gregory--
I have moved and I want to send you an updated email address. I moved from South Carolina in May and relocated to Virginia. I am living in Lynchburg (where I went to college). I have a job I really like. I work with Central Virginia Community Services. We serve clients in four counties and two cities and offer services in Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Retardation. We also offer Prevention and Early Intervention Services. We are divided into two areas--Child and Family Services and Adult and Family Services. I currently work in Mental Retardation Adult and Family Services. I work in a residential setting--two group homes with four clients living in each. The homes I work in are wonderful. The staff is there to support the clients and enable them to live in the least restrictive environment as possible (for their disabilities). There is a lot of training involved, but I really enjoy it. The agency I work for is also great. They do a lot for their employees and have a high retention rate. I have met a lot of employees who have left the agency for one reason or another, only to return there.
I am enrolling in school for the Spring to begin work on my Master's Degree. I am still undecided on the direction to go--either counseling or clinical psychology.
Well, that's what been going on in my neck of the woods. Hope everything is going well for you. I still think of my days at CCS...and smile.
God bless,
Amy

Update 7/24/04
Hi, Mr. Gregory-
It's Amy Cockerham, Class of '92. I have wanted to send an
update since learning of the alumni pages but haven't known what to write. I
attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia studying communications and
developmental psychology. I am planning on going back to school for my Master's
Degree-probably in Speech Pathology. Currently I am teaching preschool in
Myrtle Beach. I am also an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay
Cosmetics. Kelly
(Foltz) Hogan (Class of '91) is my Sales Director.
On a personal note, I got married in 2000, but am unfortunately going through a
divorce-a point in my life where I never thought I would be. God has truly
given me strength beyond measure through it all. I am in the process of writing
a book for women dealing with domestic violence and letting them know that there
is help for them and a way to escape it.
I often think of my time at Calvary and remember fun times with friends from
times past . . . and smile.
God bless,
Amy
